Are you ready for a weekend afternoon road trip? If so, head up to Black Mountain, NC. This small mountain town is just a short ride south from Asheville, NC or an hour and some change up from Greenville, SC. Make sure your dog comes too. This place is one of the most dog-friendly places you’re likely to find anywhere!
In fact, one of the major draws of this town is just how incredibly dog-friendly this place is. It isn’t unusual for many of the local business owners to allow you to bring your dog into their store – whether they’re selling dog treats or custom fabric, chances are better than even that your best friend is just as welcome as you are!
You’ll be spoiled for choices once you get there. This town is a fun place to walk around, explore, and enjoy being together with your dog. Below are a few of our favorite places.
Lake Tomahawk is a beautiful lakeside park right outside the Main Street area of Black Mountain. It has a paved walking trail that goes around the entire lake, making it a perfect place to stroll with your dog. There are some really great views of the Seven Sisters mountain peaks that sit off in the distance as you walk around the lake.
Bone-A-Fide Pet Boutique
Bone-A-Fide Pet Boutique is a small dog supply store right off of the Main Street of Black Mountain. If your dog could dream about it, they carry it. From harnesses and leashes to dog treats and custom dog toys, it’s there! The owner is really friendly and can help you and your dog pick out the perfect treat or toy.
The Dripolator is an awesome coffee shop right in the center of Black Mountain. They serve incredible coffee, espresso drinks, and baked goods. It is set inside a neat, older stone building with tons of character. There are a few tables outside so you can enjoy your brew with your dog. This could be the perfect way to end a long day of walking the town and strolling in the park!
