The dog days of summer have officially arrived in the Greenville area! With high temperatures and plenty of humidity, it’s tempting to retire your walking shoes until the fall arrives. The good news for you and your dog is that you don’t have to!
In less than two hours you can drop at least ten degrees and shed a lot of humidity by fleeing up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Right outside of Asheville and several thousand feet higher than Greenville, this incredibly scenic road is loaded with hiking trails you and your dog will love getting out onto.
One of our favorites is the Graveyard Fields Trail. Don’t let that name freak you out though. We’ve been there multiple times and never come across a single grave site! Clocking in around 3 miles round trip it’s a dog-friendly hike that most people of average fitness will be able to conquer without much effort. Crossing an open high mountain meadow this trail ends at a very impressive waterfall. Sit back and enjoy the view of the falls then double back the way you came.
So if the warm weather blues have got you feeling cooped up inside, hit the Graveyard Fields Trail off the Blue Ridge Parkway next weekend for a cooler, less humid option for enjoying the great outdoors with your pup!
