Hendersonville’s downtown is a compact and quaint place to stroll with your dog. There’s a few green spaces and lots of benches along Main Street for people or pup-watching. Enjoy all of the historic architecture and small town feel. This is the kind of place you could see Barney Fife patrolling. Wag! Pet Boutique is right on Main Street. It’s a great place to spoil your dog!
Dupont State Forest – Hooker Falls
Dupont State Forest is a short drive from Hendersonville and one of the nicest state parks you’re likely to find. It’s large, dedicated base of volunteers keep it in top condition. Hooker Falls is an easy hike from the trial head. The falls are a long, relatively low waterfall that cascade into a large lake. The gentle nature of the trail makes it a nice place to take dogs that may not be used to more rugged hiking. A few picnic tables along the way provide an opportunity to stop for a picnic lunch.
Village Bakery – Flat Rock, NC
A short drive from the Dupont State Park, the Village Bakery in Flat Rock has a large, dog-friendly back deck. The deck is built around a large magnolia tree which provides lots of nice shade when you’re dining there. They have great breads, pastries, and wood-fired pizzas!
